Sometime in the late 1980’s, Peter Jackson wasn't concerning himself with making Hobbits relatable or a cursed ring radiating evil. He was busy directing puppets and having them do unmentionable things to each other in Meet the Feebles. Maybe he was having his Punch & Judy moment. Or needed to exorcise some darkness and using puppets help soften the horribleness these characters unleash on one another. Human are terrible to on another. But a puppet hits a puppet in it’s puppet face equals fun? Sure. And if you have just stumbled out of your bomb shelter, weed is legal now and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was made into movies and are worth watching.
