As the human race teeters on the precipice of ecological end times, the U.S. government & its citizens follow the trends of social media, reality television, expanding racism, misinformation and domestic terrorism. Good times.

Would we be better off if we could go back in time and rid ourselves of the corrosive elements of Facebook, Survivor and Donald Trump? If you believe time is linear, perhaps that would work. But if time is a flat circle, everything which has happened before will happen again. So maybe not.

My preferred mythology is the Time Bandits one. We can all be saved or ruined based on a bunch of little people running around with a physical map of time portals dotting the universe. They alone can save the world or doom it. When I fire up a post dinner spliff, this is the belief system I want to embrace. So turn off your phone, cuddle with your favorite significant other/pet/kid or pillow & blanket while indulging in some (sort of) escapist fantasy .

And speaking of repetition, Time Bandits might happen all over again.
