We’ve seen director Taika Waititi do coming-of-age / comedy in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, action / comedy in Thor: Ragnarok, and horror / comedy in What We Do in the Shadows. Jojo Rabbit looks like a distillation of all these awesome projects. Our very own Taika gets to romp around in Nazi attire acting more like fuddy-duddy, advice spouting Hitler instead of Final Solution, mass murderer Hitler. Well executed satire is not for the faint of heart (or literal minded) so I’m confident someone will be offended. Maybe that’s the plan.
