Chloë and the Next 20th Century
J. Tillman moved to Los Angeles right around the same time I did. After baptising himself in the LA River and emerging as Father John Misty. He released Fear Fun the following year. This album became my anthem. I relating to his smart, smug perspective of a happy Californian transplant lapping at the trough of L.A., tasting it all. I feel a kindship with his writing. The two of us share a birthday so I suppose my astrological chart should studied harder for answers.
Chloë and the Next 20th Century shows all FJM has learned about fame, facts, fantasy and forgiveness. He is a troubadour for the Armageddon and I will keep my ear to the speaking, listening.
