The Incredible, Indelible Enter the Void
Quentin Tarantino told me to never name drop. OK, that's a lie, but I did read about Enter the Void on his list of top 20 films of 2010. (For the record, it made the top 10 at number ten.)
This film tests the limits of the audience, it's characters and plot itself. Smoke up & watch or just sit & watch, but do yourself a favor and watch this. It will upset you, bore you, frustrate you, challenge you and make you want to turn it off, but sit your asses back down, shut your mouths, and watch it all the way through. You can revel in a recent movie which is able to blend experimental film making with traditional storytelling and really, really big concepts without falling apart midway through. Sometimes it hurts to use more than 10% of your brain, but try it.
If he were still around, Kubrick would have liked this one.
