The Deep End
Like Brandon Cronenberg’s last feature, his new film firmly establishes it’s own logic before it sprinting manically into the darkness. From the opening blackout shot of two characters talking to one another in the inky murk, struggling to connect to a beautiful tropical place with lovely moneyed people relaxing. Even when we meet James (Alexander Skarsgard) and Em (Cleopatra Coleman) again, the writer husband and his rich wife have their backs to us. Are we watching them or are they ignoring us? Is this a game?
No spoilers here. Don’t spoil it for yourself. Go watch it before someone like you does.
