Obviously Wrong
When I first moved to Los Angeles in 2011, I lived down the street from Jenny Slate. Like a lot of people in the neighborhood, she had a dog and I had a dog. She was a pleasure and was just starting to get some buzz from the Marcel the Shell video she voiced.
A few years later, she did this very understated film about a woman who gets pregnant from a drunk one night stand and decides to get an abortion. Unlike any of the politics and sensational garbage blasting out of every media orifice, this was a realistic depiction of a woman demonstrating her right to get or not get an abortion. (SPOILER ALERT: She gets one.) It was a day in the life of a person making a huge decision and was treated with dignity and grace.
I’m sad to say that this is no longer a women’s choice in so many parts of the United States. It is clear that this is an assault on women. Period. (I could make a snarky joke here, but my sense of humor has vanished in the last 36 hours.)
