Marijuana Movie - Tron
This post could easily have been for the Matrix. If you have not seen it in a while, go and watch it because it really, really holds-up. But Tron came first. It talked about hacking and the scary real, real scary threat of AI and big data even before author William Gibson had finished Neuromancer. With the alphabet of developing tech (VR, AR, Web 3.0, NFTs, DAOs, cryptocurrency) dropping out of the talking heads of Silicon Wherever, I am continuously putting two finger to my carotid artery, making sure I am not in a simulation. (By the way, that verdict is still out for debate according to Elon Musk.)
Big concepts aside, Tron is still pretty rad for what they are getting up to in 1982. And who doesn’t love a pre-Dude Jeff Bridges as our fearless coder / video game bro who gets trapped inside the computer. The sequel Tron: Legacy is a fun, slick looking next chapter, but pales in comparison to its original source code.
Do pack it, vape it or eat it and hit the play button. Don’t get derezzed or you’re dead.
