The Short Review - I Am Not a Hipster

Heidi Van Lier was nice enough to invite me to the Los Angeles screening of this new film by writer/director Destin Cretton. During the post-film question and answer session, Cretton was asked about the title of the film. He laughed politely and it was clear he has been asked one version or another of this question several times before. He said there was a scene with that very piece of dialog, but it had been cut from the film. He didn't elaborate.

What doesn't get left out of this film is a moving story of an artist dealing with loss and the weight of creative pressures and local infamy in the San Diego indy music & art scene. This film transported me to that place...plus I was a little high so that helped too. This is well worth checking out.
